husband Antoine Veil, former inspector of finance and business leader, husband of Simone Veil, died in the night of Thursday 11 to Friday 12 April in Paris, the age of 86.
Chairman of the Strategic Committee of the Bollor?? group, Antoine Veil was the founder and former president of the Club Vauban (which includes figures from the majority and the opposition). The couple he formed with Simone Veil, former minister responsible for the legalization of abortion and is centrism, had met at Sciences-Po Paris. Married in 1946, they had three children, including lawyers at the court of appeal of Paris and Jean Pierre-Fran? Ois Veil. Claude-Nicolas died in 2002.
Born 28 august 1926 Blamont (Meurthe-et-Moselle), Antoine Veil is from 1947 to 1952 young attached to the cabinet of Pierre-Henri Teitgen, including the Presidency. Antoine Veil is CEO of the airline – now defunct – UTA (Union air transport) until 1980, then President of the Society for the development of air transport in Africa (Sodetra). In the 80s, he was president of the Institute of airline CEO Manurhin, CEO of Matra Transport, Managing Director of Compagnie Internationale des Wagons-beds and Tourism, Chairman of the Company for the financing of film production and audiovisual (Soficas-Valor). From 1986 to 2000 he was vice-president of the National Tourism Council, then (from 1989) President of the AV Consultants company. In the 90s, he is CEO Orlyval, president of Sapiens France, CEO of SAGA group (, rail logistics, stevedoring). Since 2008, he was, among other things, director of Havas.
Accompanied by his wife, Antoine Veil had briefly attended the demonstration against gay marriage held on 13 January in Paris.
